Hockey Ledgend Lied to courts for his son.

Guy Lafleur would do anything for his troubled son . The hockey Hall of Famer is charged with giving fake evidence at Mark Lafleur's bail hearing.

In September, 2007, Guy Lafleur told the court his son had respected a court ordered curfew and spent the weekend away from rehab at home with his parents. But a month later, when presented with hotel receipts, he admitted Mark had spent two nights at a hotel with a 16-year-old girl. He said he thought the added privacy of a hotel would help with his son's re-entering into society. But Ms. Weitzman was not buying the story, pointing out that there was no way Guy Lafleur could verify whether his son was respecting his bail conditions if he was not at home. Guy Lafleur responded that he called his son on his cellphone to make sure. But how, replied Ms. Weitzman, could the former Canadien know where his son was if he was talkin to him over a telephone.

At the time Mark Lafleur was out on bail on several charges, including assault. He was staying at a halfway house, but after breaking his conditions, was sent back to prison. Guy Lafleur was speking on behalf of his son, hoping he would be released again on bail and allowed to stay with his parents. For the several charges Mark Lafleur, 24, is now serving 15 months' house arrest on several drug, drunk driving and assault charges after pleading guilty to 23 counts, including 13 involving his former girlfriend.

Mark Lafleur's father had no right lieing for his son, Mark new he wasn't doing what he was soppose, especially on probation/bail. Guy Lafleur should get charges for lieing on stand becasue he did take an othe to "tell the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth, so help him god". Its not right he got off with lieing. If that was any other person they would be charged maybe even jail time. Instead Guy Lafleur has filed a $3.5 million civil suit against the police and prosecutor involved in issuing an arrest warrant for him; makes no sence if you ask me.

  1. I understand what your saying about lieing on the stand because it is not right but once you are in the position it is a whole different story. Keep in mind this is someone you love dearly and you only want the best for them. Sometimes the love you have someone over powers everything else.
